bump for a quick lil veedub

This was my first sedan in a while. It has a roomy backseat where my friend who is 6'7'' can sit in the back comfortably. It has a nice ride and handles well for its size. Pretty quick too. It takes a second to to get out of first gear but in 2nd and 3rd it pulls like crazy. Reaches over 100 in third gear. It can keep up with my friend's cammed and worked 95 m3 in a straight line, but a lot of cars have trouble keeping up with it in the turns. Thanks for the bump.

All of the typical problem areas that I know of have already been addressed in this car. The previous owner worked at Jack Daniels VW parts and he did a lot of the work on the car. The owner before him was a tech at the same place. The first owner was an older women who barely put any miles on the car, and she bought it new at Jack Daniels VW. That said, preventative maintenance and repairs were always performed on time and correctly.

The heater core is one of the notorious problems and a pain to change, but that has already been done at 140k miles.
A/C condenser and compressor have been changed two years ago, so those should be good for a long while.

I think typically the 12v vr6 engine is reliable and the low psi of boost that the supercharger kit makes is pretty safe for that motor.

THe VR6 uses a timing chain instead of a belt so there is less possibilities of that breaking. The chain and tensioner have been replaced when the head gasket and water pump were done just because it was already exposed.

The oil pan gasket might need to be changed in a year or two. It looks a little wet with oil on a couple sections. Does not leave any oil in my driveway though.

The supercharger company recommends changing the spark plugs more frequently than with a stock motor, but also recommends regular spark plugs over the platinum or iridium ones. I just changed them about 500 miles ago and I think they should be changed every 3,000-5,000 miles. They plugs are only a couple of dollars each.

The belts and hoses all look new still, so they should be good for a while. Battery is also pretty new.

The tie rods might need to be changed in a year or so. One is pretty new and the other is not. I had two new ones but when changing them only one was bad so the other I left. The front drive axles have also been changed sometime in the last three years so they should be good for a while.

I do not know if the wheel bearings have been replaced anytime but I tested them and they all seem tight. The rears can be repacked with grease if they start to seem a little loose and that usually tightens them back up.

I still have many new and used parts for maintenance and replacing anything that might break. I have one new oem tierod, two used front axles that can be rebuilt and/or beefed up, 4 or 5 mass air flow sensors because the previous owner thought they were going bad but they were getting oil on the sensor and they have been cleaned of oil and work fine now ( they could easily cost over $100 each used), many miscellaneous interior plastic parts for the center console and air vents (almost a second of every interior part), two of every relay in the car, the air box and everything if someone wanted to take off the supercharger and return to a stock setup, plus other little things. Have some exterior parts as well including two extra spoilers. The one on there now is starting to peel so one of the extras could be painted and then put on.

All of the above mentioned things go with the car if the buyer wants them. I also have a set of MkIII De wheels with almost new snow tires on them. This car is a beast in the snow, especially with these tires on.

There is also no rust on the entire undercarriage of the car but there are a couple of small spots underneath the paint on the driver door and rear passenger door.

The sunroof track is messed up but the motor works. It won't tilt but it will slide but it won't close properly by itself right now. I am not sure if it can be fixed or has to be replaced. I found complete new sunroofs between $200-$300. Plus you could easily sell the glass of the old one when you replace it to a corrado owner who wants to swap out the metal sunroof panel. Easily $100 back there and many buyers.

The headliner is out but I am going to put one in soon.

One of the reasons for changing the brakes aside from getting braking power is that the stock B3 passat brakes had a tendency to get stuck closed. The new ecs front brake conversion and rear brake calipers eliminate that and provide excellent stopping power.

All of the bushings have been replaced with polyurethane ones and those last a while.

The exhaust is borla full stainless with a million mile warranty.

The rear wheels have 10mm spacers to make the rears more even with the fronts. The center caps for the wheel did not fit on without the spacers so they are still off. I have a set on order. The front fenders have been rolled and there is no rubbing anywhere with the 17 inch wheels on. Still there is only a 1.3" drop in the front and 1.25" drop in the rear. The tires on the 17 inch wheels have a little more than half of the tread left.

The car really is nice to drive and hauls ass. If someone wanted more power however, there is a stage 2 supercharger upgrade that adds a 9psi pully, new software, bigger injectors, and a race bypass valve for $999 from vf engineering. It changes the power output from 260hp/230tq @6psi to 290hp/260tq @9psi.

It is also easy to get good gas mileage out of this car because normal driving is usually out of boost and can net about 25-26 mpg on the highway.

I will try to take a video and upload it here.

I tried to cover everything I could think of but please keep the questions coming if you have any.
