Can I run an electric pressure washer on a power inverter without harming anything? I'm going mobile and would like a pressure washer that is quieter and easier to handle than gas, and although I am willing to go gas, I wanted to entertain the idea of running an electric washer on an inverter.
Is this feasible?
You can run anything you want with the right inverter and battery bank. The cheapest way out would be a gas generator. At least you could run your other equipment. What good would it do to be able to run an electric pressure washer and not a vacume of buffer?? GH

yes u can.. just make sure the invertor you have can support the peak power of the pressure washer. On a side note, your battery is going to drain very fast, so the engine will probably have to remain on the entire time (if this is going on your m3, the S52 or any M50 bassed motor, really doest like to idle for long. I never let mine idle for more than 1 minute (unless in traffic or at a light). The oil pressure at idle just isnt enough for long periods of time.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm picking up a Jeep Cherokee (4.0L I6) and I'm trying to think of the best way to get power. As GH41 mentioned, I will need to run my buffer and vacuum as well, so perhaps the generator would be a good idea... but they're just so loud:(
Even with a generator, it doesn't really answer my electric vs. gas pressure washer question. I've never owned one but I've done quite a bit of research and find that some detailing guys use electric and are happy and some use gas and swear by them.
For mobile I think gas would be the best long term. But then that puts me with a gas generator and a gas pressure washer which kinda starts to seem like overkill.

well u can get a really high amp alternator, or maybe some extra car batterys in the trunk... and some high watt invertor... that would work, and be quite. but honestly, if you run a vacume, and a electric pressure washer, there both pretty loud as it is.... Y not look into a mobile honda generator? they are VERY quiet, and are very small too. Then u can run your electric pressure washer off that, as well as ur vacume. ;)

Biglots has this gas powered http://www.toolcrib.com/detail/330014/Karcher-2-600-PSI-2-3-GPM-Gas-Pressure-Washer-G.html Karcher for $288. It has a Honda engine.
Have a look at craigslist for a generator.
