Picked up a bag of 25 m/f cloths for $8.00 at walmart.
Each cloth is 14" X 14".
Any harm in using these?

They are good to go. I have some similar to those from costco and actual pretty good quality.

they are white and blue. Every other rag is folded in the bag is white, then light blue, then white, ....can't remember brand. I did see the exact same bag in COSTCO.
I'll reply later on brand.

He is 100% correct. These low brand MFs are too hard for the paint, and actually scratch the Clear Coat.

Ask me how I know :shifty

I picked up some Cobra Microfiber towels. Works great. (Picked them up from autogeek)

learn something new everyday. I thought there was only one type of microfiber. Maybe different colors or sizes, but I thought it was the same material. Interesting...

Really...whats a good brand you recommend that wont knock my budget?
I tend to use it once and throw it away, what about washing the high end MF towels for reuse?

Yes. It was very interesting to see as well. Under the normal eye, you can't see anything. But after inspecting it with a 500 watt worklight, you could see them clearly.

These are the ones I use......

These are the ones I use for wax removal

Worth it IMO

For washing, I use handwash them in a bucket. They hold up fine.

Good site to go to also......25% off til the end of May for selected MF towels: http://www.detailedimage.com/

It's pricey, I know. But, it's worth it.

You will spend WAY MORE for buffer/pads/polishes to remove the swirls caused by poor quality towels. Just bite the bullet and buy some quality towels (microfiber) and wash mitts (lambs wool).

Hope this helps. :buttrock

Man you guys done your research haha.

Back then when i owned a black car, i would always get pissed when i see swirls, thats why i went back and got a silver car. So much easier make it look clean haha.

Thanks for the info. I might just get the cheap mf for wheels and all the nitty gritty.

What's inside (or left out during production) in the low cost MF that would cause it to scratch the paint more than a higher end MF cloth?
Dont' mean to :deadhorse: but I'm trying to find out if there is any info that tests/proves it.

If these are the same towels I've bought from Wal-Mart in recent years, they also tend to leave a lot of lint. I only use them for really dirty jobs like wheel cleaning and door sills.

I have a pack of them from costco. They aren't as nice as the ones you can pick up from detailing sources. I use mine for wheels, door sills, etc.

Different blends. Usually the cheaper MF's are 80/20. You will also have to watch out for how they create the edges...rough edges = swirlmarks galore!

None. Just suck it up and bite the bill. Especially if your like me who spends $50 a bottle for polish, you just don't want to put the scratches back in the paint. They are all worth the extra money

shi@t i wish i knew this earlier, i just picked up some of the blue and white ones... just figured microfibre was microfibre... but they worked alright for me so far, but ill stop before they do some real damage.

vroom towels from target are acceptable.
and no need to spend 50 on polish when you can buy 3 bottles of op/oc/ops for that price.

+1 for the Danase PHat towel.
I just received my DWG a few weeks ago and I included a PHaT towel as a trial. I'll be ordering more.
I have quite a few brands of quality MFs (as well as the costco ones) and the Danase PHat is the greatest so far.
Having both the thinner Costco ones and the better quality ones in your towel arsenal is always a good idea.

I know exactly the ones you're talking about from Walmart. I use them on my interior, glass, door jams, rims and wipe down of the engine bay.

G.P. Burdell is right, they do leave lint. Wash them a few times and it won't be as bad.
