Hi

I have a 2001 U.K spec 330 E46.

The clutch pedal has fluid on it which I found the other day and cleaned off.

Following day a Amber / Red light appeared on the far right hand side and the yellow traction control light came on.

I am suspecting the brake a clutch fluid are shared, when I checked the level under the bonnet, it found it quite low which I am thinking turned all the lights on within the drivers dash board.

Would this be the clutch master cylinder being faulty within the clutch system or perhaps a O ring and simple fix?

Is this a common or known E46 fault and simple fix or rather a replacement clutch?

What color was the fluid?

it looked like an oil colour, e.g. black. It was difficult to tell

I would wait a few days and see if it happens again.. You might of just had something on your shoe.

The clutch system does share the same fluid as the brake system

For the hydraulic system to work properly, the clutch pedal is the piston (master cylinder) to the clutch slave thats on the transmission that engages/disengages the clutch. So the 'master cylinder' of the clutch system is attached to your clutch pedal. Does your clutch operate properly? If it does, I would bet that there is a small leak by an o-ring. There is quite a bit of pressure to operate the clutch slave so if your clutch still works fine, its a small leak. get under there in the footwell with a flash light.
