Hi,
Filling up at the gas station yest at a slow pace, the pump decided not cut off and spilled all over the side and wheel. Washed it with water immediately and wiped it with a microfiber towel, then I washed it thoroughly (using Maguire's Gold car wash) within an hour when I got home. Any harm done? I know gas is bad for the car finish, but not sure what it exactly does, does it erode the clearcoat, damage the paint, all the above? And do you think in my case any harm would have been done?
Thanks

It sounds like you are ok, other than possibly needing to reapply any sealants or waxes that may have been stripped off.

+1 - you probably should re-wax the area (including wheel wax if you've got some). A couple of layers of sealant wouldn't hurt either.

Is there a way to check if anything is stripped off (what is the sealant btw)?
If so, what brands do you guys recommend using?

Well if you havent waxed in the first place, then its ok, it wont harm your paint unless it like sits in it for 5 hours. Just go get some meguairs nxt paste wax from wal mart and do the whole car.

The car was professionally waxed (machine buffing if I got my terms correct) last month. Wax again? I looked closely and I can't see any difference in appearance between the spill spot and the rest.

No its waxing, not machine buffing. You wont really be able to see a difference since the wax is a month old. Just rewax that panel if you want to be safe.
