260whp & 277.5 lb/ft torque. That means 300 at the crank with 15% drive loss. Not bad for an old car! I beat the Mustang GT that was there by 30whp. I have a video if I can figure out how to get it off my phone.

:edit: I should add that was on 89 octane. No idea if higher octane would push the numbers up.

Hey, gang...

Many thanks in advance for reviewing my post.

'92 525i (e34), 130,000 miles. Bought it new in '92, still love it, although the number of things going wrong is beginning to be painful (window regulator, coils, alternator). I just learned CARS DON'T LAST FOREVER! Drats!

Anyway, one little nuisance of mine has been the fuel gauge light...the gauge works, the low fuel light comes on, but at night, the cluster light does not come on (dimmer thumb wheel cranked up, all other gauge's bulbs respond).

I even swapped a good light from another instrument into the fuel gauge port, same result (and the one previously in the fuel port was now lighting another gauge).

I've read about smacking the dash - very high tech and soldering in new capacitors in the cluster, but are these really the only solutions?

Many thanks in advance for your wisdom...

-Darrell

My vote for the most awkward and useless thing on an e30 is the bracket from the driver side motor...

My vote for the most awkward and useless thing on an e30 is the bracket from the driver side motor mount/bracket and the intake manifold on an early 318i. I found out today that it makes taking the starter out next to impossible and the bolts are also placed in the most awkward areas so that I could not fit a ratchet or wrench decently in any of them. This pain in the ass is mostly due to the birds nest of wiring and ducting for the cooling system. Between the intake manifold support bracket and the starter bolts I've decided my e30 is lucky it doesn't run or I would drive it off a cliff.

Definitely the #1 thing that makes me want to smash my e30.

So what do you guys think? What is the most bs/awkward/useless part on YOUR e30?
